Kevin J. Scanlan
Kevin J. Scanlan is a shareholder practicing in the area of civil litigation. He has been with the firm since 1996, when he returned to Boise, his hometown. He enjoys a practice that focuses on litigation, while also serving the other legal needs of his individual, corporate and insurance clients. While much of Mr. Scanlan’s practice involves professional liability, transportation law and other personal injury claims, he has also litigated numerous insurance coverage/bad faith actions, products liability lawsuits, toxic tort claims, and commercial litigation cases, such as actions involving allegations of misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud.
Mr. Scanlan earned his bachelor degree in business administration with an emphasis on finance from Carroll College in 1992. He went on to attend Seattle University School of Law, graduating, with honors, in the class of 1996. During law school, Mr. Scanlan served as an editor of the Seattle University Law Review, and he obtained practical experience working with the King County and Boise City Prosecuting Attorney’s Offices.
Since his return to Boise, Mr. Scanlan has also involved himself in numerous community and leadership activities. These include serving on the Board of Directors of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho, Inc. (President, 2001) and the Board of Directors of the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho, Inc. He has also taught business law at Boise State University, served as a medical student proctor (overseeing a medical-legal rotation), and lectured on various legal issues at seminars and meetings.
Mr. Scanlan is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of various subsections of the state and national bar associations, participating in sections relating to tort and insurance practice, health law, intellectual property and litigation. He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Idaho, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Idaho Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.
